Take a Tour in Johnno’s TOURER Camper Trailer

We recently had a good look at the Tourer, a camper trailer made by Johnno’s Camper 01 johnnosTrailers, who have retailers all over the country. This is a great example of a well made, robust and well appointed camper trailer that’s in the mid range of the retail price bracket for these types of vehicles.

The whole Tourer camper trailer is made in Australia; the trailer, chassis and canvas, and the tent itself is made at their factory in Maryborough. The canvas has a five-year warranty and comes in two colour options, Maroon or Blue.

The Tourer has a very impressive list of features that really emphasise how sturdy and 04 johnnosrobust this Aussie made trailer is. The body is ‘Zincaneal’ and the chassis and drawbar are both ‘Duragal’ steel. The solid square axle is complimented by off-road nine-leaf shackle suspension fitted with rebound springs, and the addition of the 15 X 7 rims and off-road tyres sets up this whole ‘combo’ for any terrain. As an added bonus you are often able to match up the trailer wheels with your car wheels, which allows the same spare to be used for either vehicle.

The inclusion of electric brakes, with hand-brake, and a front-mounted spare wheel makes this trailer even more appealing to discerning buyers, and weighing in at less than a tonne means it’s a great option for people with a variety of smaller tow vehicles.

Di and I were very impressed that it took less than ten minutes to get the Tourer erected and ready for use, all with a minimum of fuss. The inclusion of the strut-assisted lift on the bed base makes it easy to open and close, which is a huge advantage for old folks like us!

Di was sold on the comfy queen bed mattress and the steps used to access it, but she was 07 johnnosalso very impressed by the kitchen set-up. The standard inclusion kitchen is a four-burner stove and grill, with a stainless steel sink and lockable stainless steel two-drawer storage system for utensils and your other kitchen items. The inbuilt sixty-litre water tank adds to the capability of this kitchen to certainly meet our needs, and I’m sure the needs of most buyers. However, if you want to go a little bit further with the kitchen there’s an option of having a Sovereign Bar-B-Q and a wok burner to replace the stove.

The addition of two 12v batteries, with further options available, Anderson plug and a series of outlets also provide the ability to plug in twelve-volt appliances and add optional LED strip lighting to various parts of the tent. The built-in slide-out drawer for the fridge will take a 85 litre Evercool fridge/freezer.

The tent itself is very spacious. It includes seven large windows with mesh and the tent 06 johnnostoo has many options to help you personalise your set-up. The standard layout can be complimented by the addition of a ‘sleep-out’ for the kids; annex walls for added privacy and protection; and, fly-screen walls, to keep the bugs and insects out while allowing plenty of airflow. The trailer comes complete with the awning and with all necessary ropes and poles.

The toolbox on the draw bar of the trailer is a big, solid square box, but there’s also the option to select the ‘nose-cone’ or the ‘tapered tool box’ depending on the length of the draw bar on your model. The addition of the spare wheel and the stone guard on the front on the trailer not only give your “Aussie” investment great protection, but it also looks really cool and ready for the tough stuff.

So if you’re looking for a sturdy, well made, functional and good looking camper trailer, 10 johnnosand, if you’re smart enough to recognise that Australian made is best for Australian conditions, then go no further than the Tourer by Johnno’s Camper Trailers. Buy smart, buy Australian.
