Chocolate Starfish release new single Candyman Blues today, sell-out shows and announce new show as part of Best of Everything tour that kicks off this week
It’s a huge month for Chocolate Starfish, living up to their reputation as one of Australia’s hardest working bands. A new single Candyman Blues ( Spotify link below) has been released today, as well as their Best of Everything 30th Anniversary tour kicking off later this week, shows selling out and a new show announced. Frontman Adam Thompson returned from his 60th birthday celebrations in Italy a week ago and then headed straight to the NT to work with kids in remote indigenous communities. June has been jam packed and the next four months on tour promise more of the same for Chocolate Starfish and their legion of fans.

NEW CANDYMAN BLUES SINGLE RELEASED TODAY 30TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR KICKS OFF LATER THIS WEEK MELBOURNE AND HOBART SHOWS SELL-OUT NEW MELBOURNE SHOW ANNOUNCED
Three decades on from their iconic debut smash hit with Carly Simon’s You’re So Vain, Chocolate Starfish are once again weaving their magic on not one but two 70’s hits to create a new single they have titled The Candyman Blues.
The new Candyman Blues single has been released on Spotify and will be performed live for the first time later this week in Victoria when Chocolate Starfish unleash the first of their Best of Everything 30th Anniversary shows.
The Best of Everything 30th Anniversary Tour will roll out across four months with 24 high-energy shows taking in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania – with a new show added at The Palms at Crown on October 6 following the sell-out of the original Melbourne show. The Hobart show has also sold-out this week.
Known for their unique spin on classic hits, new Candyman Blues single is an unlikely hybrid concept masterfully blending the classic song from Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory with The Doors’ Roadhouse Blues.

On the new single, frontman Adam Thompson explains, ‘We had been playing around with The Candy Man in its traditional format as a bit of fun, as people often refer to me as ‘Mr Chocolate’. We were all feeling it wasn’t ‘Chocolate Starfish’ enough in its original style – it needed something else, but we weren’t sure what that was.’
It was during a long drive through the outback that the idea struck.
‘I was doing one of my long NT drives when it came to me that the song could be sung over the riffs to Roadhouse Blues,’ Adam recalls. ‘After that, the rock/theatrical pairing took shape.
Once Norm put his musical meanderings on the arrangement, the boys played their parts and (producer) Tim Henwood got us into the studio, the groove, feel and performance was authentic and one of the easiest recordings we’ve ever done.’
The Candyman Blues will have audiences singing and stomping throughout The Best of Everything tour this year. It doesn’t get any sweeter than that.
Tickets for all shows, including the new October 6 show at The Palms at Crown, are available at www.chocolatestarfish.com.au
“Melbourne is our hometown so we’re thrilled to have sold out our show at The Palms at Crown and to be able to add another show to meet demand. I only returned from celebrating my 60th birthday in Tuscany a week ago – so to now be releasing a new single, announcing that Melbourne and Hobart have sold-out and the new Melbourne Show as well as starting the tour to celebrate 30 years for Chocolate Starfish makes it a huge, huge month,” added Adam Thompson.
Living up to its name, the celebratory 30th Anniversary tour promises to celebrate the very best of Chocolate Starfish – from their self-titled debut album, to hits from Box, Spider, Primitive, and The Beautiful Addiction, as well as standout selections from their acclaimed Classic Album Series – Bat Out of Hell, INXS Kick and Adam Thompson’s Bohemian Rhapsody Concert.
“We love that we’re winning new fans with every performance and welcome the latecomers – or next gen – with open arms. Our audience is the centrepiece of the Starfish experience. We perform with them, not for them. They deserve the ‘best of everything’ – so that’s what we will give them,”
adds Thompson.
Chocolate Starfish is made up of the incredible talent and energy of Adam Thompson (lead vocals), John Nixon (bass), Darren Danielson (drums), Norm Falvo (keyboard) and Zakk Zedras (guitar).
