New Patriot X3 cracks $70 grand

First three-berth ‘live-in’ tent camper from top-end Gold Coast manufacturer

Game-changing Queensland off-road specialist Patriot Campers has introduced its most expensive and family-friendly camper to date.

Priced from $69,990, the new three-berth Patriot X3 is the first tent trailer from the seven-year-old Gold coast manufacturer with a separate inside living area within the main camper body, accessible via rear drop-down steps after flipping over the side-folding, canvas-covered double bed.

Along with an ‘oversized’ double coil-spring mattress, the Patriot X3 features an internal drop-down table that turns the L-shape bench lounge seating into a dinette, while the main bench seat also converts to a kid’s bunk at night.

While there’s an internal cafe option, food preparation and cooking is predominantly outside on a large L-shaped kitchen which includes a pull-out stainless benchtop with sink and space for a 75 litre fridge, plus a twin burner gas stove and grille that resides in a kitchen recess with pull-out pantry and cutlery drawers.

Built with similar attention to detail and rugged off-roadability as  Patriot’s popular X1, the new X3 features an aluminium body on a galvanized chassis, with X-Cruise airbag suspension, PCOR 16in alloy wheels and 33in MT tyres, electric drum brakes and rear recovery points all included as standard.

Folded up, the Patriot X3 is not much larger than the X1 at 1.85m wide by 1.75m high by 3.75m long. However, it weighs around 125kg more unloaded, with a 1120kg Tare and 1600kg ATM.

Patriot says the X3 offers similar 2000 litres (internal and external) storage to the latest X1-H,  and when set up including unfolding the wrap-around Hexacore awning delivers around 30 sq.m of indoor and outdoor coverage.

A Rhino-coated, ‘man cave’ tool box sits up front with optional swing-away arm for a Weber BBQ, with Patriot’s ExoRack Roof Mounting System also included for carrying various items on the move.

Other standard features include twin 65 litre water tanks, diesel hot water and air heating, twin 150Ah AGM battery system with Redarc Redvision TVMS and 1500W inverter, anderson plug, 240V inlet and internal ‘pop-up’ tower with 12V/240V sockets, external shower and wet storage locker and gas bottle holders.

Other optional extras include Mickey Thompson MTZ P3 tyres, lithium batteries, a Dometic 75 litre fridge and a 150W solar panel.

“The first of its kind by Patriot Campers, the X3 is a live-in camper trailer that combines our famous outdoor living, 4WD track beating, tough as nails camper trailer with an easy to use, easy to set up, convenient indoor living area”, Patriot said on its website.
